Build and review a deterrent deployment plan

Use Deployment Studio to calibrate a site map, trace buildings and greenspaces, mark collision-risk surfaces, place deterrents, review modeled SPL coverage, and share a configuration link for team review.

Quick Start

This guide walks through the fastest path from an empty workspace to a shareable deployment plan.

Blank Deployment Studio workspace with toolbar highlighted

1. Open the planner

Open Deployment Studio, then confirm that the Speaker Placement section is visible. The main workspace contains the toolbar, canvas, status bar, selected object editor, and object list. The main page also includes a collapsed Quick Start Guide under Open the User Help Center for a fast in-app walkthrough.

2. Add a map or use the grid

Open Map Setup and choose Upload Map Screenshot to use a Google Maps screenshot or another site image. If you do not have a map, continue with the blank grid.

3. Choose units

In Map Setup, set Units to feet or meters. Units affect scale readouts, calibration, share links, and recommendation inputs.

4. Calibrate scale

Choose Calibrate Scale, click two points with a known real-world distance, enter the distance, and apply it. Good calibration makes all distance, area, SPL, and recommendation behavior more meaningful.

5. Trace important site geometry

Use Building to outline buildings. Use Greenspace to outline lawns, courtyards, habitat areas, or other zones that need labels. Use Collision Surface to mark building edges where bird collisions are a concern.

6. Place deterrents

Open Deterrent, choose Sparrow, Merlin, or Custom, then click the map to place units. Use Select to edit power source, volume, name, and role.

7. Add indicators and references

Use Indicator to place sound reading markers. Use References to drop everyday sound examples such as conversation, traffic, vacuum cleaner, or rock concert levels.

8. Try Auto-Deploy

If you have marked at least one collision surface or set at least one greenspace to deter from, click Auto-Deploy. Choose whether recommendations should prefer Sparrow, Merlin, or an automatic mix.

9. Review and share

Review the heatmap, object list, selected object panel, and indicator limits. Click Share Configuration in the toolbar ribbon next to Auto-Deploy to copy a URL that preserves the plan geometry and settings.

  • Press Enter while drawing a greenspace polygon to finish it.
  • Press Escape to cancel the current drawing action or close the recommendation modal.
  • Press Delete or Backspace while an object is selected to delete it, unless your cursor is inside an input field.

Placement model: Mark dangerous collision surfaces and label greenspace polygons before requesting a deployment recommendation. The browser sends site constraints to the protected PHP recommendation service and applies the returned placement plan without exposing proprietary strategy details in public JavaScript. Each deterrent can be tagged as plugged-in, solar powered, or battery powered, and plugged-in units can store their AC supply voltage. Buildings are simple attenuation barriers in the displayed heatmap. Reflections, diffraction, ground effects, wind, humidity, frequency response, phase interference, and speaker directionality are not simulated.
